The HD Loader For PS2 Makes Your PS2 Games As Fast As The PS3

The HD Loader for the Playstation 2 is still a very useful disc and an excellent addition to your Playstation 2 console. While the Playstation 2 may have aged a bit since it was released, it can still be purchased brand new, and for prices that are much, much less than the PS3 or XBOX 360 video game systems. It's a great starter system, with a library of a good 2 - 3 thousands games that offer up everything from kid friendly games like Shrek and Shrek 2, right up the the Call Of Duty series that is still released for Sony's last generation game system.
And with the right accessories, you can make your Playstation 2 feel like a brand new console too. While it used mainly DVD discs as a method of delivering games, there were add ons that could do away with the discs all together and allow you to load games directly from the PS2 Hard drive. Every single older PS2 console (The phat ones as they are affectionately called) as well as the newer slim PS2 consoles can use Hard Drives. The older big ones allow you to plug them into the expansion port and a network adapter slot. While the new slim ones let you use any USB hard drive that you can install your games and applications on.

It allows you to take any of your games and then quickly install them to either the internal or the external USB hard drives. This results in games booting up a lightning speeds and in game load times being reduced to almost nothing at all.
The PS2 was known to have issues when it came to playing back the full motion videos of the newer games on the console. While they made the games look great, the load times could be horrendous.
